Plastic
Plastic is the name used to describe solid bodies, the basic constituent of which is obtained through synthetic or semi-synthetic polymerisation.
Plastic is processed to form shaped articles, fibres or films, serving as packaging material, textile fibres, thermal insulation, tubing, floor coverings, and forming a constituent of paints, adhesives and cosmetics. What's more, plastic can be found in electrical engineering as a material for insulation, circuit boards and housings. There is hardly any aspect of our life today that has not been affected by plastics.
In terms of mechanical properties, plastics are often inferior to other materials. They are not normally as strong as metal or ceramics. Even though their strength is comparatively low, plastic parts break less easily than, say, ceramic or glass.
They usually have good viscosity. For this reason, many everyday children's items and toys are often made from plastic. Household items such as bowls and watering cans are also often made from plastic.
Plastic objects can be attractively painted and decorated using many edding markers, such as permanent markers or paint markers.
